Version 2.91 of Workio app now live, available here.
At Workio, our mission has always been to make work better for workers. To us, it’s such a clear win-win-win for the individual, for their organisation, and for our society.
Workers who are more engaged at work are happier, more productive, and have better physical and mental health. This benefits them as individuals (of course), their employers, and their families and communities.
While so many brands have been keen to express their support for the Black Lives Matter movement in the aftermath of George Floyd’s killing by police in Minneapolis, it’s not yet clear to what extent many of those organisations are seriously committed to addressing inequality in their own organisations or in wider society.
Employers’ lowest-hanging fruit to make an immediate positive change is to examine themselves - to understand more deeply how their own employees are experiencing work, and whether there is a different experience for employees from minority ethnic backgrounds compared to majority ethnic employees.
In the west, this tends to mean: are people of colour having a different (usually inferior) experience of working in your organisation compared to white employees?
What are your retention rates for employees from ethnic minorities? Is your organisation as welcoming as it could be? Are there role models at management and leadership level? Are you finding talent from non-traditional sources?
This is why we’re so pleased to be working with enei on a special version of the Workio approach, to draw out more detail about the diversity and inclusion of an organisation’s culture. You can find out more about it here.
We’d love to be part of the solution to deep-seated issues of racial inequality in our society, through doing our part to make work better for those from minority ethnic backgrounds.
As we’ve always been focused on the employee, it’s natural for us to be working with enei to offer this special service to their members in the UK.
Now is the time to take action to make things better.
